MINUTES FROM 2005 AGM
MALTESE AT ST.GERARD’S, WELLINGTON

 
  1. Meeting started at 3:00pm. Acknowledgement from President for those present.

  2. Apologies: Patrick Pullan, Christina Stewart, Ray Spiteri, Gerard Mangion, Philip Tortell, Maureen Sammut, Nikola Sammut, George Sammut, George Micallef, Dr Dennis Smith, Celia Burton, Peter Fava, Joany Grima, Leslie Austin, Christine Patelesio, Lyndsay Mallia, Mike Bisset, Louis Demicoli.

  3. Last year’s minutes read by Emily Micallef.

  4. Thanks to outgoing members on the committee, namely Christine Patelesio, Tessie Demicoli, Charles Hannaford.

  5. Welcome to new members on the committee Daniela Micallef and Louis Demicoli.
    The remaining members still on the committee are Anthony and Emily Micallef and Mike Bisset. Others who have offered assistance with activities and newsletter are Dr Carmen Dalli and Lucienne Hensel.

  6. Reading of letter received from Scholarship winner Joany Grima who is in Malta preparing for the CHOGM meeting in November.

  7. Approval of auditied accounts. Motion forwarded by Daniela Micallef and seconded by Lorraine Lilian Jones.

  8. Motion for approval re Minimum Contribution towards newsletter.

  9. Motion of thanks to Mr Graham Schofield (Principal, Green Acres School).

  10. Other matters discussed:
    The Maltese Association is now a member of The European Forum Incorporated Society.
    The TVM Documentary “Baqghu Maltin” - They remained Maltese - is planned for February 2006.

    Important dates to keep free:
    - European Carols at Botanical Gardens (10th December or 11th if wet)
    - Waitangi Day
    - Eurofest Activities in May
    - Matariki Celebrations in June
    - AGM 2006 in September.

    Meeting closed at 4:00pm, after which everyone present enjoyed the goodies and Imboljuta which reminded us of our childhood days in Malta.
