Born
Qormi on 9th November 1929. After finishing the last
class of the Seminary, in 1949 he entered the Jesuit
Order and after two years novitiate and two years
classical studies he was sent to France to study
philosophy for three years, after which he passed
two years teaching French and History at St Aloysius
College, from where he left the Order in 1958.
Mallia taught French and Maltese at the government
Junior schools and at a private college.
He worked as a Senior Health Inspector in the Health
Dept.
He obtained the Lic.Esperanto from the British
Esperanto Ass., the BA Hons (Lond) in French and
doctorates in naturopathy (ND) and in literature (D
Litt).
Mallia wrote various radio-plays, essays and
translations from French authors which were
transmitted on Rediffusion (the present Public
Broadcasting Services).

tas-60, Vulcan. He wrote the script for
the musical ‘’Vulcan’’ that was put to
music by his son John and performed at
Notre Dame Theatre, Zabbar in 1995 on
the 20th anniversary of the fall of the
aeroplane Vulvan on Zabbar; Lapislazzuli.
Founder and first editor of the poetry
review Versi which was later edited by
the Society of Maltese Poets; editor of
il-Muza another poetry review which is
now extinct. |

He is president of the Malta Esperanto-Soicieto,
founder-member of Verkisdta Esperantista
Asocio (The international Association of
Esperantist Writers), honorary member of
the Society of Maltese Poets and member
of the Esperanto Academy.
He won various prizes for poetry in
competitions in Malta and abroad. He was
given the Premio Città di Valletta by
the Society of Maltese Writers, and
certificates of praise by the Local
Councils of Qormi and Zabbar for his
literary achievements. |
