Joe Bajada

Joe Bajada, Sports administrator born on the 6th November 1934. President of the Amateur Athletic Association for the last 25 years of his life, Bajada was the model of a perfect gentleman. Loved and respected by everyone connected with sport, he worked tirelessly for the promotion of sport on the Island.

Bajada attended many IAAF and EAA congresses and helped to found the Athletic Association of Small Nations. During the last years of his life he worked hard so that the Marsa Stadium would be converted into an athletic Stadium.

In 1993 he organized the athletic events in the Games for Small Nations. Under his guidance Malta won 7 medals, an achievement, which earned him the Official of the Year Award. He passed away on the 12th February 1994 soon after he received the award from the Sports Writers Association.
